The Inner Voyage

We've probably all wondered at least once in our life how we came to be the person we are. Why do we have fears? Why do we like some things more than others? Why do we act and react the way we do

Please note that the term "Sons of God" is a universal term used throughout a far flung universe

to designate the origin and closeness of relationship between a Spirit Father and a Universe Origin

Created Son, It is inclusive of the many mothers and daughters living on earth known as Urantia on High.

In Universe Terminology the mother and daughter is often used to designate Finite Material Origin

including all natural mind endowments and the Father and Son is used to designate Spirit Origin.

Since it is well understood because we exist; that the Original Father Creates both men and women

the term Son of God or Divine Son means coming from the Father. The Womb of Matter and all finite

realities sourced in this term come forth from one first cause and center the Universal Father......

The I AM or I am all in all is the Supreme Being - the Daughter of God - and the evolving

Unity Origin of all Matter. Even as a Mother gives birth to both a son and a daughter giving forth the

visible life channel through which the generations of Mankind come into finite existence and go forward

into eternal universe careers if God's Will is the life Choice..

Theses Terms signify our journey from finite material men and women to the Infinite and

Eternal Creative Spirit Levels of Universe Reality. Men and Women retain their male and female

identities throughout our long Universe Adventures - So when you see the term Sons of God

the term is used to designate eternal potentials and Origins and not a sex differentiation. Sons of God

are both Male and Female. Both are equal in the eyes of our Creator and as true beautiful and good.

Even as Angels have polarity differentials, one is Positive and Active the other Negative or Reclining.

One is listening to God the other acting on the spirit influence thus received as a far flung Universe

of things and beings unfolds before the very eyes of those beings that behold the Hosts of Heaven

The Spirit of Truth Teaching the Sons and Daughters of God

As individual Sons and Daughters of God we must cease to seek for the word of God only on the pages of the olden records of theologic authority. Those who are born of the spirit of God shall henceforth discern the word of God regardless of whence it appears to take origin. Divine truth must not be discounted because the channel of its bestowal is apparently human." This course is devoted to finding the solid beam, and the inner channel and becoming truth co-ordinated so the Divine truth of your living spiritual experience may be bestowed upon the whole world by the spiritual power discovered by this Inner Voyage.

Lesson Content

We've probably all wondered at least once in our life how we came to be the person we are. Why do we have fears? Why do we like some things more than others? Why do we act and react the way we do?

The Number One Lesson will answer all these questions. Have you ever felt like you could become someone greater than you are? Have you ever felt that there is something special about you, but somehow you never had the chance or the will power to become it?

Maybe you think it is impossible. Maybe you do not know how to go about it. This Lesson - and the following ones have the solutions and practical ways to make your dreams and your desires come true.

But to reach any goal, it is important to see what we have to work with. So we'll take a look at where we came from and how it all began. In our society the whole focus of attention is turned outwards, towards the external material world, and little attention is paid to what is going on in the deepest recesses of our minds - where our "thought adjuster" dwells.

This voyage promises to be the most exciting adventure you've ever participated in. It may well be the most important step you've taken in your life. It is the basis of every other lesson in this course - and of every other Personality Development Course. Remember that the prerequisites to success are:

  • Sincerity, Sincerity and more Sincerity

  • Patience

  • Perseverance

Fasten your seatbelts. We're off!

  •  The Three Magnetic Pulls of the material garment of Flesh.

  •  Your Brain: The Amazing Machine

Did you ever wonder how our brain functions and how we remember things or why sometimes a smell, a song, or an incident will bring back old memories in the most unexpected ways?

One way to answer these questions is to see our brain as the marvelous biocomputer that it is. Just like the mechanical computers that deal our income tax forms, it receives data, stores it in its memory bank, then retrieves it whenever necessary.

Experiences from our environment are picked up by our five (5) senses and registered on the brain rather like punching holes onto a computer card. When we want to come up with a logical conclusion, it is as if all the relating items are run through an electronic circuit and out pops the card with the best possible solution, based on the information the machine has to work with. The more narrow the selection of acceptable input has been, the less information the computer has access to.

For the purpose of this educational system, we will call the data accumulated in our biocomputer our "programming".

A person born in China or Africa would likely have completely different programmed ideas about food, clothing, social etiquette and so on, compared to someone born in North America.

Programming includes our practical skills, our feelings, sensory stimuli, abstract concepts, standards, social rules – in other words, everything we have ever thought, felt or experience, even to emotions picked up from our mother while we were in the womb. It is as though a movie film and sound track have been capturing our entire life, complete with odors, tastes and textures. This has been proven scientifically by surgeons who found that by stimulation certain areas in the brain patients would recall events from their past of which they had no conscious memory. They would relive the incident, complete with sound and smell, and could describe the surroundings in detail.

A Mind Map

Another man of science approached the study of the human mind in a different way.

Dr. Sigmund Freud, a Viennese physician, began to reason that when his patient had a pain in his foot or his back, that it was not necessarily where the pain originated. He called his colleagues together and explained to them that he thought most medical problems originated not in the body, but in the psyche.

The other doctors at first thought this was ridiculous. "What is a psyche?" they asked. "Well," said Dr. Freud, "it’s difficult to explain – you can’t see it or touch it – nor find it under a microscope, or dissect it. I think man has a portion that is intangible and invisible – but it’s the most important aspect of personality."

Most of Freud’s insight was gained by studying his own dreams. He conceived of man as a dynamic system of energies. He saw the personality as being made up of three main systems – the ID, the EGO and the SUPEREGO, which interact with one another, producing the individual’s behavior.

Our chart, "The Human Personality", is based on Freud’s basic insight. Our psychologists recognize the great contribution he has made as a pioneer of our present day understanding of personality development. This does not mean that we necessarily advocate Freudian psychology.

Now – let’s take a look at ID, EGO and SUPEREGO

The ID

It is like a central peg upon which we can hang our wardrobe of life experiences – a little diaper, school clothes, blue jean

Experiences, working clothes, dance dress, skis, wedding apparel, mechanic’s overalls, and so on.

What is it that makes you different from your brother, your friend or your neighbor? It is your unique life experiences.

This is what gives you sense of self-awareness – "I am John" or "I am Louise".

The ID works on a like-dislike frame of reference. It is concerned with three basics:

Survival - The will to live, to acquire food and shelter. Also the need to be accepted by the society in which we live.

 Trust in GOD

Sensation – The need to explore and investigate nature’s wonderland. The enjoyment of life through the 5 physical senses.

Sex - Sexual Identification of maleness or femaleness. The human being is bisexual by nature and heterosexual by choice. MARRIAGE--mating--grows out of bisexuality. Marriage is man's reactional adjustment to such bisexuality, while the family life is the sum total resulting from all such evolutionary and adaptative adjustments. Marriage is enduring; it is not inherent in biologic evolution, but it is the basis of all social evolution and is therefore certain of continued existence in some form. Marriage has given mankind the home, and the home is the crowning glory of the whole long and arduous evolutionary struggle.

Procreative drives

We call these three magnetic pulls to earth S S & S.

However, ID is like a skeleton without self-propelling power. It can desire food, but by itself it is not capable of actually acquiring food. Therefore, it needs a muscle power or driving force  - MIND - for self-achievement.

The EGO

The human EGO is the whole of the material body of flesh. EGO supplies the driving force. It is the power which pushes the growing identity to actualize its desires.

EGO also has other functions:

We are constantly bombarded by millions of impressions from our environment. Through the five physical senses

Sight - the ability to see material phenomena.

Sound - the ability to hear material events.

Smell - the ability to smell material substances.

Touch - the ability to feel material realities

Taste - the ability to qualify material substances used to fuel the body

and the seven mind senses or Psychic Circles.

  • Intuition

  • Understanding

  • Courage

  • Knowledge

  • Counsel

  • Worship

  • Wisdom

EGO is the factor that decides and chooses which of these are most useful to serve the Self ID. For example: a woman walking down a city street might notice what clothing is being displayed in the store windows, while a man might notice the latest model of a car driving by.

EGO makes life more colorful by magnifying or minimizing events. i.e. Fishermen’s stories of the "huge fish that got away" is a typical example of magnification.

Some impressions are screened out entirely by EGO as being unimportant to the needs of ID. We’ve all heard someone say "I did not see that" while someone else will wonder how they could have missed it.

The rougher life is for the baby ID, the more EGO is forced into the role of protector of the identity.

Can YOU now think of some examples of your own EGO tricks? Write down three (3) of them.

1. ________________________________________

2. ________________________________________

3. ________________________________________

This ID – EGO partnership would be blissful were it not for the third aspect of the personality –SUPEREGO.

Superimposed on the ID – EGO team, SUPEREGO plays by a different set of rules.

It works on the concept of right and wrong based on the programming that we received from our parents and figures of authority when we were young. This instruction can be either verbal or implied. See The Human Personality Chart for examples.

Its role as conscience is often in conflict with the demands of the basic identity, which causes trouble, particularly for persons whose programming contains a lot of "no-no’s".

Wrong information fed to SUPEREGO causes constant friction and nervous tension, as well as general confusion in the personality as a whole.

So, as you can see, keeping all these "characters" satisfied can require a lot of fancy footwork.

For example, let’s imagine Janet has just been invited to an office party. In her mind the decision-making process could look like this:

ID - "I don’t feel like going to that dull office party."

SUPEREGO - "No, no, Janet! You can’t miss that party, ;it’s your social obligation."

EGO "Tell you what, Janet, I've got the answer. Go to the party , but tell them you must leave early!"

This one was simple. Other ID-SUPEREGO conflicts are not solved so easily.

What about the many times we’ve wanted to do something but have been unable to make it happen because our "no-no’s" wouldn’t allow us?

One of the goals of this educational system is to find a way to keep all components operating in harmony - pulling together as a team rather than jostling for supremacy. Together rather than uptight. Take a moment now to think about and write down some of the "no-no’s" which restricted you when you were a child. Try to find at least 3 prominent ones.

Locating the PSI or Human Soul

You may be wondering what these explanations about computer brains and personality charts have to do with locating and developing your soul or psyche.

Unless we are free thinkers, psychic impressions will be overly coloured by our own underlying programming.

Clearing out our programming is the main purpose of this lesson. Any of the basic assumptions that govern our response to life are no longer useful.

For example, one student always cut a roast in half before cooking it. One day a friend asked her why. The student replied: "I don’t really know except my mother always does it." She later found out her mother was following a method used by her grandmother. When the student asked her grandmother the reason for cutting the roasts in two she was told, "Well, I got in the habit of doing that when I was first married. You see, my roasting pan was too small to hold a whole roast."

Programming can be either positive or negative. Learning to walk, how to talk, tie our own shoes, dress ourselves, these are all helpful, positive aspects of programming. But what about programming that stops us from operating effectively? Think about this example.

A little girl, Suzie, sees mother in the kitchen making something. Full of curiosity, Suzie watches mother roll some cookie dough and cut shapes out of it. Feeling excited, she want to "help".

If her mother gives her a bit of dough and allows Suzie to make some cookies too, guiding her efforts and praising them, the little girl will have had a positive learning experience. If this kind of experience is repeated when she wants to "help" mother with other tasks, she will develop a feeling of self-worth and self-confidence that will contribute to her success in the years to follow.

But if mother is always in a hurry, or is impatient, or she views the child’s interest as an annoying hindrance, no such positive programming results. And if the little girl is scolded in a loud voice or is punished when she persists in trying to participate, it will have an even greater affect of making the child feel that she is "no good". The same feelings will arise if the child attempts a task and then is harshly criticized for not doing a good job.

Whichever way the parent reacts, the child has learned a lesson that either contributes to, or detracts from a self-confident attitude towards life.

Few of us have been fortunate enough to have had only positive reinforcement in our programming during our early childhood.

Lack of confidence, worry, anxiety, nervousness, timidity – these are all things we learned, things we have acquired through programming.

We weren’t born that way. It is by using the following technique that you can begin this "unlearning" process.

The Technique

Roaring 2000s Ch 6 pg 159

Since one pair of human eyes has more processing power than all the computers of the world put together, the entire thrust of the information revolution is to harvest this power .

New Enhanced Visualization Technique.

Note: to the Teachers and Students of this course. This technique is the method for attaining a better understanding of spirit leadings and will lead the sincere student to consciousness of the Father Fragment or Divine Spark of God residing within each human mind, and to the actual hearing of the Spirit of Truth, our Master Creator Son who will lead us into all truth by progressing the understanding of the pictographic method these Divine Monitors use to teach the earth child, through the language of love, life's origin, history and destiny.

The Number 1 Lesson

 Lesson Technique

This is the meat of this lesson "Action"

Here is how to begin the process of clearing out your programming.

1. Get your notebook (which we refer to as a #1 book) and a pen. Write down the date and time of your exercise, and the mood that you are in.

Choose a time which you can devote to this exercise every day. Do you really have to do it every day? YES.

You would never learn to type or acquire any new skill without consistent effort. So do this exercise regularly, even if it is only 15 – 20 minutes a day. You owe yourself that much time, just for you.

Sit in a comfortable armchair. Best results come if you use the same chair, at the same time, in the same room very day.

Begin by examining your chosen room, studying it in great detail, almost in minute detail. Observe the lines and contours of the objects in the room.

Now close your eyes and try to "visualize" the room in your mind’s eye (the screen on which you see your dreams). Don’t be concerned if you do not see everything distinctly on your mental screen at first. Everybody can visualize: in fact, we do it all the time. When a friend describes their holidays in the South Seas to you don’t you "see" the coconut/palm trees, the sandy beaches and the turquoise ocean. With practice you will become better and better at visualizing at will.

With your eyes still closed, note whether the room has a Peculiar odor which is so familiar to your senses that you fail to register it consciously. Then feel the outline of your chair, noting the texture of its covering. Feel the weight of your pen, the smoothness of the paper.

Feel warm and at home in this room. See it as a haven from the external world. You can relax here. Gradually turn off all thoughts of the outside world. Reach inward. Relax completely. Open your eyes. Take up your pen and begin to write.

Go through the steps of this part of the technique right now, to get the feel of it.

How to get the MOST out of your Exercise

At first write down whatever thoughts happen to flit across your mind. Did the boss give you a rough time today? Is the family acting up again? Or perhaps the dog is barking. Whatever the thoughts, write them down, preferably with emotion. You don’t have to be shy , it is just like talking to yourself and NO ONE ELSE EVER SEES WHAT IS WRITTEN IN A STUDENT’S NOTEBOOK. This is very important. You must feel completely free to write without the idea of someone else reading your innermost private thoughts. The more honest you are about your emotions the faster you’ll progress.

After writing about things flitting across your mind, write about your childhood memories. At first your writings will seem like odd pieces of a jigsaw puzzle. That’s all right. Let things come out in whatever order they come to mind.

If you find that memories won’t come out on their own, Start with your most memorable childhood experiences – both good and bad. Put yourself in the place of that child, eager and unsophisticated. Try to record the exact emotion which accompanies the memory – delight, fright, frustration, etc. Remember that when we were young, all the memory filing cabinets were affected by our emotions.

There are many simple aids to help unlock those dusty Memory drawers – a faded photo album, childhood souvenirs, music relating to childhood memories such as nursery rhymes, elementary piano pieces or popular songs. The main thing is to give your voyage inward as many sign posts as possible.

Do not try to embellish or justify anything which may come out as we classify items in later lessons.

Record any unusual incidents which may occur at any time during the course - if you feel these are of a pre-cognitive or clairvoyant nature, give the date and time and try to get someone else’s signature under the item. This is useful for later authentication.

If this lesson is done properly, it is not unusual to revert perhaps to childish handwriting, or to change to left-handed writing if this is the way you wrote in pre-school days. Even the language may change if your mother tongue is different from the one you are now using. After you have written and it feels like you are finished for the day, wait for a few moments. Sometimes a quiet moment of hushed anticipation will come, along with new realizations.

That’s it! As you can see, it is deceptively simple. But remember not to let that fool you into thinking some of the steps in the technique are unnecessary. As the course unfolds you will understand the "why" behind them. Each step does have its own special purpose.

Get a pen and paper and try the writing part of the technique now. Do it for about twenty (20) minutes. Everyone has two educations; the external one which is aimed primarily at making a living, and the one we must seek for ourselves – that which teaches HOW TO LIVE, in triune balance with the laws of GOD. We are sometimes filled with sheer amazement to find people who are highly successful at making a living but who are tragic failures when it comes to making a LIFE. They failed to realize the supreme importance of self-realization – WHICH IS THE KEY TO TRUE HAPPINESS.

The use of the writing technique described in this lesson consciously stirs up memory cells. You may soon start to dream of long-forgotten incidents. Try to keep a pen and pad handy by your bedside to jot down these dreams on awakening. The mysterious and intriguing realm of dreams is what the next lesson is all about. You will learn how to remember and analyze your own dreams, and perhaps discover a "you" you have never seen before.

Example of SUCCESS

You, too, can have results like this:

The value of a #1 Lesson:

This exercise has worked for many, many students before you, freeing them from former limitations, leading them to new personality development and an expansion of consciousness undreamed of, even cosmic consciousness and divine sonship. Here are a few examples of the benefits other students have experienced shortly after they began doing their #1 Lesson.

Example 1./ Carole is a middle-aged wife and mother who had had a phobia of cats since childhood. "I found my fear of cats both annoying and at times embarrassing, but had been unable to free myself from this reaction. Then one day I discovered the emotional cause of my phobia which went back to an incident from childhood, while using the writing technique. From that day on I was never bothered by cats again."

Then there was Jim, a university student who suffered from asthma most of his life. "I discovered while writing, the emotional cause of my illness and never had a recurrence. That was five years ago."

Example 2./ A young nurse named Jenny had a similar experience. "I had had a small black dog when I was young, and when I was 10 years old he was injured badly. Since there was no veterinarian nearby (my family lived in the country) the dog had to be shot. This traumatic event caused an emotional wound that never really healed. I never had a pet again, and even as an adult, the sight of a small black dog like Tinker would make me feel sad. After reliving the incident while doing my writing and releasing the emotion which accompanied, I experienced a great sense of joy. I knew the old wound was healed at last."

Example 3./ Bruce, on the other hand, is a very successful systems analyst. "I got along fine with computer programs, but wished I could feel as happy working with people. Very shortly after I started using the writing technique my co-workers began to comment that they noticed a change in me that was very appealing. What was I doing, they wanted to know."

Example 4./ I had been doing the first technique for quite some time but I still found myself unloading emotionally with other people. While in a number one lesson I could not reach the same degree of emotion. The person who seemed to stimulate these emotions the most was my husband and as you might well imagine this was putting a lot of strain on our marriage. One night in a dream I was given the way to a true number one lesson. I understood that I would always look outside to get answers to my problems. In the dream I realized that I could only find a solution by going directly to the source within myself and by doing this I would not need other people to tell my problems to.

The next day in my number one lesson I decided to really examine the emotions that my husband had stimulated in me. By my desire to know where the emotions came from I had the realization that what I felt toward my husband was actually how I really felt towards my father.

Since I learned this key of clearing up past emotional experiences my relationship with my husband has improved dramatically because now I see him as himself and not in the image of my father.

Perhaps as you read this you are thinking of changes in your life that you would like to see happen, and are wondering if the #1 Lesson will work like this for you. The answer is a resounding "YES, IT WILL". The technique given in this lesson already works. All you need is the desire to grow and the constancy of application.

Points to Remember

  •  1. Sincerity, Patience, and Perseverance. DO YOUR EXERCISE DAILY! Same time, same place, same chair – just like watching your favorite TV program!

  •  2. Focus attention inward. Listen to your inner self and write down what it is saying.

  •  3. Keep records of your dreams.

  •  4. Communicate with your teacher. Crystallize your thoughts into words.

Very Important: This 20 minutes of your Life quest is the beginning of being able to find God and become like Him/Her. This is the time with courageous loyalty you search for GOD within yourself with a whole heart and find GOD.

While men and women of every world and dimension call this indwelling Spirit of the Father by many different names, the Father has never revealed himself by name, only by the personal characteristics of His Loving nature. When Abraham attempted to know God His indwelling spirit replied to this his petition I AM  and when Abraham inquired further did this indwelling spirit of the Father answer I AM that I AM. And to the people of this generation did Jesus of Nazareth further reveal the Father by proclaiming "before Abraham was I AM. In the course of his incarnation of the Father did this divine Son of God further reveal the Father's name therefore should we learn to Trust in GOD and his faithful Sons.

What mysteries artifacts hold for us!

One night my boyfriend and I were headed home for a nice cup of tea. A few days before I had dropped by my mother’s place to pick up old family pictures. So that night while drinking our cup of tea we decided to casually look at these family pictures. For some reason, each time I would come across pictures of my father I would just stare at them for a long time. My father had left us when I was 8 years old because he was very sick and for some unknown reason to me, I had no conscious memories of him.

The magic happened when we came upon a photograph of myself and my father washing a big dog when I was about 2 years old in a big tub outside. When I saw that photo I started to cry and cry releasing incredible amounts of emotion that I was unaware I had inside – all I could say was: "My daddy did this with me, my daddy played with me." I cried like a child would cry, I relived the whole experience emotionally until it was all finished. My boyfriend, during that time, could only be beside me and held me in his arms understanding what was taking place.

From this point on I learned to appreciate the value of different artifacts such as photographs, clothes, dolls, etc. &, because they hold in our memories the keys to release the mysteries of our life story. Mrs. Louise Dumas, Hull, Quebec.

UNIT 1: THE INNER VOYAGE

Send in by e-mail to Student@MachiventaMelchizedek.org a brief version of your Life Story; make sure you have kept a copy for yourself. The flavor of each life story is unique – some are dramatic and intense, some are more tranquil and easy-going. Others are more like a comedy; some seem tragic. Yet all of these elements are woven into every story to a greater or lesser degree, as they are in the great movies and classic novels. It’s quite an adventure to play the main character.

What about your story? Stop for a moment and see this world as a large global amphitheater and your life as a movie script.

Then get a pen and some paper and briefly write it as you remember it happening.

This exercise should give you an idea of the basic flavor of your own story.

Write down three (3) of your most memorable memories:

1. ________________________________________

2. ________________________________________

3. ________________________________________

Write down three (3) restrictions from your programming:

How is your writing or #1 technique coming along?

If you are quickly progressing to spirit contact you should consider enhancing your growth, by turning around and Teaching this Course to others using your newly acquired personal religious experiences with the Hosts of Heaven, the Paradise Father, our Universe Mother, and the good Spirit of Truth, the conjoint Spirit of our Paradise Father and our own Master Creator Son, "who will say to you, this is the way" whenever you need to go to the right or to the left. True Sonship with God is a living inner relationship and personal religious experience with God Even as any good parent desires to have  communion and intimate association with their children on earth, so to does our Universe Fathers crave this personal and fraternal association with you. For this to occur you must be born again, born of the spirit where personal religious experience becomes unbroken communion with God through the human seven fold endowment of His Living Spirit. Action results in Strength, while moderation eventuates in Charm

If you are willing to serve your fellows in this way please send your correspondence to the Student-Teacher e-mail address below. Remember when once you have attained ability your fellows have not acquired, universal law requires you to turn around and help your younger brethren! Then will the fraternity of the brotherhood of man re-gain access to the Hosts of Heaven, as ((UB Paper 38 Sec 9 Par 7 states) "The gap between the material and spiritual worlds is perfectly bridged by the serial association of mortal man, secondary midwayer, primary midwayer, morontia cherubim, mid-phase cherubim, and seraphim. In the personal experience of an individual mortal these diverse levels are undoubtedly more or less unified and made personally meaningful by the unobserved and mysterious operations of the divine Thought Adjuster." (The Divine Spirit of the Paradise Father, Him who Jesus called Our Father in Heaven)

A supreme decision to assist in the planetary redemption of your fellows will bring personally to you the immediate assignment of two Seraphic Guardian Angels who will in tandem with your indwelling Spirit Father Fragment assign your tasks and then instruct you on how best to fulfill that task. The universe law of pedagogy requires that when possessed of new spirit knowledge you reinforce that knowledge by turning around and teaching this new technique of living to your younger brethren in the flesh. This will assist you in taking up the responsibilities for the Spiritual Planetary Reserve Corps of Destiny who are presently supervising the work of this assignment. I am an ambassador of the Father and an Apostle of Christ serving this day and generation, and I know whereof I speak! PBK/LRK The Harvest season has begun and the CALL for the SERVERS OF THE DIVINE PLAN has gone out by a Sweep Net (Internet) into all the earth.

These answers are to be sent on a separate sheet of paper to your personal teacher at innervoyage@spiritalfamily.net . This is an extremely important part of the course. ALL correspondence is strictly confidential between you and your teacher.

Supplementary Reading

The reason for taking this course by George Carlin!  A wonderful message by George Carlin:

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less.We buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom. We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often. We've learned how to make a living, but not a life. We've added years to life not life to years.

We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We've done larger things, but not better things. We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul. We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice.

We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less. We've learned to rush, but not to wait. We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.

These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships. These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes. These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill.

It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom. A time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to share this insight, or to just hit delete.

Remember, spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever. Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side.

Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost a cent.

Remember to say, "I love you" to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you. Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again.

Give time to love, give time to speak and give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.

Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence.  As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.  Speak your truth quietly and clearly, and listen to others, even the dull and ignorant, they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexatious to the spirit.  If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.  Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.  Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery.  But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself.  Especially, do not feign affection.  Neither be cynical about love, for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment, it is as perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.  Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.  But do not distress yourself with  imaginings; many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.  You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here.  And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore, be at peace with God, whoever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace with your soul.  With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world.  Be cheerful.  Strive to be happy.
