Students reflect upon the way the mind is
conditioned by likes and dislikes acquired though our social and
religious programming and attempt to rise above the knowledge of
man to reach ever inwards and upwards towards unbroken communion
with the spirit indweller of all normal human minds. This course
is the attempt to reach the triune balance of body - mind and
Spirit necessary to hear the voice of God, your own spirit
fragment of the God of all creation and Father of all universe
personalities and creator of all other things and beings. To
know you are a child of the universe. . Meditate
on the concept of sonship with God. Being of Good Cheer and
without Fear. Courageously set your sails of faith in an attempt
to cross the cosmic sea. To
acquire the ability of changing the location of the seat of
consciousness, to undergo a spiritual re-birth, to be born
again, from above a new soul of eternal potentials. The
experience of utilizing the triune balance of body-mind-spirit
and the capacity of projecting the soul-spirit consciousness to
other dimensions of material reality where earthly concepts of
time and space are transcended by the consciousness of the
timeless spirit indweller of man, the achievement of Cosmic

that the physical body we inhabit is garment of flesh for

mortal children of the realms, only one stopping place in the
thrones and dominions of the greater cosmic reality we observe

realities. 2. Meditate on the concept of sonship
with God allowing the Fathers spirit to bring the soul into the
experience of cosmic universe realities. In the local universe
mind bestowals, these three insights of the cosmic mind
constitute the a priori assumptions which make it possible for
man to function as a rational and self-conscious personality in
the realms of science, philosophy, and religion. Stated
otherwise, the recognition of the reality of these three
manifestations of the Infinite is by a cosmic technique of
self-revelation. Matter-energy is recognized by the mathematical
logic of the senses; mind-reason intuitively knows its moral
duty; spirit-faith (worship) is the religion of the reality of
spiritual experience. These three basic factors in reflective
thinking may be unified and co-ordinated in personality
development, or they may become disproportionate and virtually
unrelated in their respective functions. But when they become
unified, they produce a strong character consisting in the
correlation of a factual science, a moral philosophy, and a
genuine religious experience. And it is these three cosmic
intuitions that give objective validity, reality, to man's
experience in and with things, meanings, and values. It is the purpose of education to develop
and sharpen these innate endowments of the human mind; of
civilization to express them; of life experience to realize
them; of religion to ennoble them; and of personality to unify
them. DISCUSSION Share your personal religious experiences
in the greater realms of cosmic consciousness, with friends you
trust. Remember glorification is the remembrance of the many
gifts of God and our ability to directly and personally
experience God and His far-flung universe, as a child of this

Lesson Content THE ULTIMATE YOU UNIT 10: ASTRAL PROJECTIONYOUR
'THOUGHT OR MORONTIA ASTRAL BODY By the practice of developing a SOLID
IDENTITY we can learn how to soar through time and space to
visit higher dimensions of reality. Astral Projection? - i) What has it got to do with personal
unfoldment and personality development? - ii) Is it more than a sensational
topic? "It was two o'clock on a Monday afternoon
and I was in the delivery room giving birth to my first child. I
had had a difficult labor; I was happy when my doctor told me
that the baby would be born very soon. Suddenly I became aware
that I felt different somehow and then I realized that I was
floating near the ceiling. I could see myself lying on the
delivery table, and I watched how my son was born. I was filled
with ecstatic feelings of peace and joy mixed together as I
witnessed the miracle of his birth. Then I was back in my body
again. I heard my doctor say, 'You have a beautiful baby boy."
It was one of the most beautiful experiences I have ever had." This is a story of an astral, or
out-of-body experience, as told by a student. In our lesson on the Human Aura we saw
that as well as a physical body, we have a second, or thought
body. An astral self. In this lesson we will learn how that
body can soar through time and space, and visit higher
dimensions of reality, once we have a solid identity. INTRODUCTION This lesson can help us become more aware
of our basic identity and find out how strong it is. It will help us understand astral
projection:
To answer these questions, we will have to begin by referring to The Human Personality Chart, (see Unit I,
The Voyage Inward Remember it was
explained, that superego acts as the "conscience" element. It
operates on the concepts of Right and Wrong. But we learned that
most of our programming was negative ........ the "no-no's" are
based largely on programmed social restrictions. This is what
causes the "generation gap" and separates people. Different
ethnic, denominational and cultural backgrounds produce
different "no-no's. For example, in some societies, it is
quite permissible for women to wear very little clothing, while
in another country a woman may not even be seen without her face
covered. Length of hair, style of dress, social customs - these
all vary according to the generation into which we are born. How
many times have you heard someone say in a disapproving tone of
voice, "It wasn't like that in my day." The more an individual cling to his
programmed idea of what is "right" and what is not, the more
separate he feels from others who do not share his ideas. Think of the kind of restrictive
programming your generation has. Write down one good example
that shows how it could create a separation between you and
someone who was programmed differently.

◄► You will see that the third section has
changed. PSI has replaced superego. It is still our conscience
element, our capacity to distinguish between right and wrong.
But PSI is governed by only one rule. "Love one another as I
have loved you." Jesus last instructions to his apostles This rule is prompted by concern and
empathy rather than social programming. The inhibitions and the no-no's
superimposed on our minds as we grow up are like guywires which
hold the PSI rigid. They anchor it down and prevent it from
flying up to its universal companions. The "ID" part of us doesn't have to
worry, it will always be personal to us. But by now it is more
confident .... "fatter" if you like. Ego doesn't have to spend
so much time catering to it, and so is freer to serve two
masters - the ID and the PSI. Loliad's version of the human
personality is our goal. Getting all components of our
personality working in harmony results in a solid, strong
identity with lots of drive, governed by the highest aspect of
our being. Emotional power, happiness and meaning to life are
the benefits. THE FAT AND SKINNY ID
What do we mean by a fat ID? Well, let's
take the case of little Johnny and little Willie. In our last lesson we saw how genetic and
environmental wealth are accidental and nothing to be proud of
in themselves. In this story, little Johnny struck it rich - he
was a beautiful baby wanted by his parents and well loved. When
he first started kindergarten, he would bring home a little
drawing from school and his mother would comment how good it was
and paste it up on the kitchen wall. Johnny soon developed a
sense of his own worth. This noted well... as a teenager the
girls all liked him - he did well in college - got a good job -
a nice car - a family, etc...
With Willie it was a little different. He
wasn't quite as smart as Johnny, much to the disappointment of
his father, who had definite ideas about school marks being a
test of a person's wealth. When he brought home his little
kindergarten drawings and his mother, who was a nervous type,
would say, "Willie, can't you see I have enough junk around the
house now?", and promptly put Willie's drawing in the wastepaper
basket. Being very unsure of himself, Willie
hesitated about making friends, particularly girls, who secretly
terrified him. He quit school early, tried a few jobs, but spent
most of his time "in between" jobs Drinking helped him swamp his
inadequate feelings and made him feel like something he had only
one friend: EGO. EGO, AN OLD FRIEND What do we mean by this? The following poem written by a student
in this course, should clarify things for you. It was given to
her by her guide while she was in meditation... Ego - My Old Time Friend You have been such an old friend to me Justifying my errors and always with a
smile; All my silkiest dreams you made come
true. When I couldn't sleep at night you kept
me company; Like a mother you give me love and
understanding. Like a father you protect me and console
me. Like a big brother you found game and I
always won. You made life livable with all its faults And you saw that I would feel above them
all. Your "love" always put me on a pedestal And I knew very well, if one day, I
should fall It would be the end of you and I my
friend... It has been fun, I will miss you, but it
must end. You really are "all" to me, but you must
let go. I now feel strong enough and want to walk
alone... Well, the day has come, I must go through
hell; The agonies of saving good-bye to my "old
time friend." I feel like a traitor after all you did
for me... I one day listened to the trees; it was
so nice. I think I enjoyed it, but somehow, I had
a city of tears. I have been drowned and shipwrecked in my
own mind. We have been so close, it's like leaving
part of me... I may see you again from time to time... But forgive me if I just wave and smile! DEVELOPING A SOLID IDENTITY Although these two cases are fairly
extreme, it is safe to say that everyone has some weak spots in
their ID structure, and these are "filled out" by EGO. We call these weak
areas our "prickly" spots. They cause us to react in a
threatened pattern when we get into situations where the ID does
not feel fully confident.
Here is an example to illustrate this
concept: Jean was a nurse who had recently married
an engineer. As a young bride, she was eager to please her
husband. She felt very confident as a cook and hostess, so if
her husband would comment favorably on a dinner prepared for
them by friends, she didn't give it another thought. But if he
would mention what a good housekeeper and interior decorator
another woman was, Jean would immediately feel insecure and
defensive. She would react as if he had criticized her. This was
because she did not feel completely confident in her ability to
create a beautiful "nest." Her husband unwittingly had touched
one of her prickly spots. By now your own ID will have grown
stronger, but very likely you still have a few "prickly" spots.
Think of a good example and write it down. 1.______________ 2.______________ 3.______________ The main idea is to find out how secure
we really are and how much we have to rely on padding and
support from our "friend" ego. What we are looking for in The Age of
Enlightenment is a high wattage PSI beaming through a solid,
confident identity. It is only when we are free of ego dominance
that we can experience astral projection.
ASTRAL PROJECTION Astral projection, astral travel, mind
travel, soul travel --These are all different words used to
describe the same concept. To project is to hurl forward. Astral
projection is the act of changing the location of the
consciousness, of separating mind and body and projecting the
mind to other dimensions of reality where earthly concepts of
time and space are quite irrelevant. In this state, it is possible to travel
quite close to the physical world. For example, one may go to
visit a friend or relative living just across the street or one
can travel far, far away from the physical world into any of the
higher astral spheres which interpenetrate the physical
dimension of existence. One of the most exciting things about
astral travel is that it proves conclusively, leaving no
remaining shred of doubt, that the physical body we inhabit is
only a house, a vehicle for the ULTIMATE YOU with the question
of survival of the personality beyond the death of the physical
body. Astral travel also confirms the common
contention that MAN is two distinct beings rolled into one, and
each can operate independently of the other when the occasion
arises. In 1966 at Cornell University, Dr. C.
Hart and Dr. John Rabinowitz sent a questionnaire to five
hundred students asking, "Have you ever seen your physical body
from an outside viewpoint, like standing beside your bed or
floating in the air near your body?" Forty per cent of the
students answered "Yes". Such authorities as Professor C.D. Broad
of Cambridge University in England, Dr. Comell Hart of the
University of Florida, Dr. J. G. Pratt of Duke University, North Carolina,
and the Munroe Institute in the southern U.S. are among those
giving very serious study to this subject of astral projection. In recent years, psychologists probing
the question of astral projection, have accumulated thousands of
case histories, as did the Society for Psychical Research in
England from its inception at Cambridge University in 1882. A typical case is that of Willy Yzermann
of Holland. She saw the form of a close friend walking in her
garden. The friend was very ill and desperately in need of help.
Ms. Yzermarnn sent both letters and telegrams to the friend, but
these went unanswered her feeling of concern grew stronger. The
next night while in the pre-sleep state, Willy felt herself
rising and drifting from her body. Looking back she saw her
physical form still on the bed. She then found herself in her
friend's bedroom and realized that her friend was unconscious.
The next moment Ms. Yzermann found herself back in her own bed.
She hastily summoned a doctor for her friend. The doctor found the girl in a coma just
as had been described and rushed her to hospital for immediate
surgery without which the girl would not have survived. Here is another story of astral
projection - one of our favorites. It concerns Mr. J. S. Skilton
of Jacksonville, Florida. It is quoted from "Proceedings Society
for Psychic Research'1 Vol. XI, p. 560. Mr. J. S. Skilton of Jacksonville,
Florida "I have been engaged a great part of my
life as a locomotive engineer, and this happened while in that
business. I was engaged with two other men one day about 2:00
p.m. in taking some trees from a box car, they were large and
heavy... Just at the instant I saw a medium-sized
person standing at my right hand, clothed in white with a bright
countenance beaming with intelligence. I knew what he wanted in
an instant, although he put his hand on my shoulder and said:
'Come with me'... We moved upward and a little to the
southeast with the speed of lightning as it were; I could see
the hills, trees, buildings and roads as we went up side by
side, till they vanished out of our sight. As we passed on, this
glorious being that was with me told me he was going to show me
that bright heavenly world. We soon came to a world of light and
beauty, many thousand times larger than this earth, with at
least four times as much light. The beauties of this place were
beyond any human being to describe. I was seated by the tree of
life on a square bunch of what appeared to be green velvet moss
about eighteen inches high; there I saw many thousands of
spirits clothed in white, and singing heavenly music -- the
sweetest song I have ever heard. I then told my attendant that it was the
first time I had ever been perfectly at rest in my life. They
did not converse by sound, but each knew the others' thoughts at
the instant, and conversation was carried on in that way, and
also with me. After viewing the wonderful beauties of
the place for some tine, and the thousands of spirits robed in
spotless white passing through the air, for they did not confine
themselves to the surface but went in every direction as they
pleased, I wanted to see my dear mother, two sisters and a child
of mine that had died some time before this. The request was
granted at once, but I was not allowed to converse with them.
They were standing in a row in front of me, and I looked at them
estimating the distance we were apart at thirty feet and
wondered how these things could be. They seemed very much
pleased to see me and I shall never forget how they first
welcomed me when I first saw them although no conversation
passed. About this time my attendant told me we must go back; I
wished to stay but he told me my time had not come but would in
due time and that I should wait with patience. At this we started back and were soon out of sight
of that heavenly land. When we came in sight of this world I saw
everything as it looked from a great height, such as trees,
buildings, roads and street s, as natural as could be, till we
came to the car that I had opened the door of, and I found
myself there in the body, and my companion vanished out of my
sight. I spoke then (just as I opened my watch and found it had
been just twenty-six minutes that I had been engaged with the
mysterious one), and said I thought I had left this world for
good. One of the men said "There is something the matter with
you ever since you opened the car door; we have not been able to
get a word out of you!" and that I had done all the work of
taking out everything, and one item was eight barrels of flour I
had taken off the ground alone and put it back in the car, three
and a half feet high, with the ease of a giant. I told them
where I had been and what I had seen, but they had seen no one. This I count as the brightest day of my
life, and what I saw is worth a lifetime of hardship and toil.
Being in good health and in my right mind at mid-day, while busy
about my work, and my mind not more than ordinarily engaged on
the great subject of eternal life, I consider this a most
extraordinary incident. I was told by this mysterious person
that if we are counted worthy at death, we shall be accompanied
to that bright world by one of those glorious beings, and this
is my firm belief". You are a Child of the Universe a Son or
Daughter of the Living GOD Astral projection invariably has sensible
applications as the previous examples show. There always seems
to be human benefit involved whether it is on a large or small
scale. LOLIAD' S SUGGESTION We how of no better way to close this
part of the course than to share with you the advice given by
Loliad many years ago. Use this prayer whenever you feel tired
or discouraged to lift you into the state of worship, If you say
it sincerely it will do wonders to lift your spirits and give
you strength. This prayer was onetime whispered into
the ear of every newborn child in the late era of the second
Garden of Eden.

A PSI operating through a solid identity
can open for us the wonders of the universe. The mind attitude
to cosmic consciousness takes flights of unbelievable beauty.
This type of mind travel is the goal of this Jacob's Ladder
course. An important Remainder The basic 1 2 and 3 techniques should be
applied daily all through the course process as these constitute
the required basis for all future opening of the mind and for
greater understanding of self and the universe. TRAVEL HINTS We find records, in essence the same as

Hurtak, Buddha, Mohammed, St. Peter, Saul, Elijah, Isaiah,
Plato, Virgil, Dante, Platoons, St. Therese, Joan of Arc, Kant,
Wordsworth, Tennyson, Milton, Swedenborg, the primitive medicine
man, and certainly
Winifred Barton -- the list is endless. The student is simply
required to rise above physical limitations. Thousands of
ordinary men and women, in overcoming personal weaknesses and
